Pizol – Ski Touring Freeway to Beautiful Panorama

The Pizol is St Gall’s highest peak (2844m). The mountain is easily reached from the Pizol ski area (one way ticket to the top quite cheap). The tour is easy with the exception of short, steep climb at the very stop. But one can also enjoy the view from the saddle below. This is a nice morning or afternoon tour. To be avoided on weekends when the ski area might be crowed and many people will be on the mountain. The tour is highly recommended when there is snow all the way down to the Rhine valley. Then there is a 2000m downhill ski (partially on the ski slopes). I call the Pizol a “freeway” ski tour as there are usually many tracks up and down. Not great for powder skiing, but the scenery is great.
