The Tanzboden Hut is a very (!) popular ski touring and snow shoeing destination. It can get really crowded here on sunny weekend days! There is a groomed piste all the way to the hut and one does not need skis to walk up to the hut. This small tour (about 400m up) can be also done in bad weather. The hut is very cosy, but it can get cramped.
There are two parking lots to park the car after driving the narrow road up from Rieden.
An alternative to the track on the groomed piste is to skin up further east (see map below).

Hi, thanks for the post! I am newly staying in the Zurich area and desperately hunting for information for ski touring nearby and single track mountain bike riding come the summer. A quick question about the map tracks? You mention using the easterly track, however the blue lines are north and south of each other, which is the best fun descent if avoiding the pisted line?
