I had the opportunity to fly with Ronnie Bernheim in his Cessna over the Swiss Alps to check to snow conditions in higher latitudes. It snowed in October already and, yes, ski tours were already possible. Looking down at the peaks from above is certainly less strenuous than skinning up. We started on a small grass airfield close to Zurich and flew over many peaks which I have climbed with friends in Central Switzerland. After a great lunch in Locarno, we headed back and enjoyed the peaks in the later afternoon sun. Check it out; click on picture to start slide show.
