Great Gatschiefer Tour (again) with 2000m descent (Davos)

Above the Novaier Tälli after the first ascent.

The Gatschiefer Tour is a “classic” in the Davos/Klosters area as this tour offers almost 2000m meters of pretty steep slopes with only moderate uphill. One has the put on the skins twice and there is not always mobile coverage. And quite a few ski tourers were caught in avalanches on this tour. So it should only be attempted in good/safe conditions!

I undertook this tour again with my “old” ski touring partner Beat Wipf. As the tour has been skied already quite a lot, conditions were not great, but ok. There was a good snow cover all the way down to Klosters Monbiel (1267m).

This time we did not ski down too far into the Novaier Valley, but headed up West towards the saddle just North of the Gatschiefer Peak. More information on the tour here.
